Privacy Policy

Stub Out ("the app", "we") is a companion for quitting smoking, vaping and nicotine pouches. We built it to be private by default. This policy explains exactly what happens to your information.

The short version

Premium AI features

If you subscribe to Premium and use the AI-personalised messages (Nik's roasts, the coach's pep talks, and daily check-in replies), the app sends a small, non-identifying summary of your progress to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate those lines. That summary can include:

If you use the coach chat, the messages you type in the chat are also sent to Anthropic to generate the coach's replies, together with the progress summary above.

We do not send your name, email, contacts, location, device identifiers, or any payment information — because we don't have them. Anthropic processes this text to return the messages and does not use it to train their models. See Anthropic's privacy terms at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

If you stay on the Free tier, no information ever leaves your device.

Payments

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through your App Store account. We never see your card or payment details. Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Health information

Stub Out shows general recovery milestones for motivation. It is not a medical device and not medical advice. The recovery information is adapted from public sources (American Cancer Society, NHS) and is general, not personal to you.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device. We don't send push notifications from a server.

Children

Stub Out is intended for adults trying to quit nicotine and is not directed at children under 13.

Deleting your data

Because everything is stored locally, deleting the app removes all of your data. There is nothing for us to delete on our side.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date above and, for material changes, note it in the app or on the App Store listing.
