Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of Stub Out ("the app", "we"). By installing or using the app, you agree to them. They're written to be readable rather than impressive — if something here is unclear, ask and we'll explain it.

What Stub Out is

Stub Out is a companion for quitting smoking, vaping and nicotine pouches. It tracks your quit — streak, money saved, units avoided, cravings beaten — shows general recovery milestones, and gives you encouragement along the way.

It is a motivational tool. It is not a medical device, not a treatment programme, and not a substitute for professional help.

Who can use it

Stub Out is intended for adults trying to quit nicotine and is not directed at children under 13. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you should only use the app with a parent or guardian's involvement.

Subscriptions and payment

Some features are free. Premium features are sold as a subscription.

Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel at any time through the same store account you subscribed with — cancelling stops the next renewal and keeps Premium until the end of the period you've already paid for.

Refunds are handled by that store, not by us. We can't issue, approve or reverse a charge we never received, so refund requests need to go through the store's own process. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected. If you're stuck, email us anyway — we'll point you at the right place. Step-by-step instructions are on our support page.

The AI coach

Premium includes AI-generated messages: the coach chat, pep talks, daily check-in replies, and Nik's roasts. Please read this bit properly.

The coach is there for motivation and company at 11pm. That's the job it's good at.

Health information

The recovery milestones and health information in the app and on this site are general, adapted from public sources including the American Cancer Society and the NHS. They describe what typically happens across large groups of people — not a schedule your body is personally following.

None of it is personal medical advice, and it does not replace your doctor. If you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are using nicotine replacement or other medication, talk to a healthcare professional about quitting.

Acceptable use

Nothing exotic here. Please don't:

The app, its name, its artwork and Nik belong to us. Your licence to use the app is personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable, and we can end it if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken.

Your data

Your quit data is stored on your device — we have no accounts and no server holding it. The one exception is the Premium AI features, which send a small, non-identifying progress summary (and your chat messages, if you use the coach) to our AI provider. The full explanation is in our Privacy Policy.

Because everything is local, deleting the app deletes your data. There is no backup on our side to restore it from.

Availability

We aim to keep the app working, but it's provided as-is. Features can change, and parts of it — particularly the AI features, which depend on a third-party provider — can be unavailable or discontinued. If a paid feature goes away permanently, we'll deal with that fairly rather than hiding behind this paragraph.

Limitation of liability

Stub Out is a motivational tool, and it's provided as-is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost data on a device we never had access to, or for decisions you make based on the app's content or the AI coach — including health decisions, which should go through a qualified professional instead.

Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for Stub Out in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your rights as a consumer.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Lithuania.

If you're a consumer in the European Union, this doesn't take away the protections of your own country's mandatory consumer law, and you can still bring proceedings in the courts where you live. The EU's online dispute resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms we'll update the date at the top of this page. For material changes we'll also flag it in the app. Continuing to use Stub Out after a change means you accept the updated terms; if you don't, you can stop using the app and cancel any subscription.
